Easter Day visit
On Easter Day Delia and her family visited St. Mary's to spend time in its idyllic setting and tranquil surroundings and to admire the beautiful views from the top of the hill fort. The site looked good, apart from a few signs of the usual vandalism, i.e. stones dislodged from the walls and litter and broken glass left scattered around. There was also new damage to the large red granite gravestone in front of the tower. After enjoying a picnic lunch, we traced an old childhood walk, and Delia was delighted to find the narrow gorge, which leads down towards Cwrt-yr-alla Park, largely undisturbed by the new building activity, and carpeted with bluebells, just as it had been in her youth at this time of year. We collected some litter and debris before leaving the site. We were particularly pleased to see that the graves had been cleared of bramble by our stalwart supporter, Ivan, who had visited the site a few weeks earlier.
